The ARCFISH project (Digital Twin of the Ocean for Arctic Fisheries) is pleased to announce its participation in the 2nd Symposium: Full Sail Ahead Towards a Sustainable Blue Economy, hosted by the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership in Bucharest, Romania, on 11 February 2026.

The Symposium marks the midpoint of the Partnership’s seven-year initiative to accelerate Europe’s transition to a climate-neutral, resilient, and inclusive blue economy. This flagship event will bring together more than 100 stakeholders — including research projects, policymakers, industry representatives, funding organisations, and Black Sea community actors — for a full day of panel discussions, project showcases, and networking designed to strengthen collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

Elevating Digital Innovation for Sustainable Fisheries

As an ongoing co-funded project under the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership, ARCFISH leverages cutting-edge Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) technology to deliver advanced data products and decision-support services in the context of sustainable Arctic fisheries management. Through deep integration of oceanographic, fisheries, and environmental data, the project improves understanding of ecosystem dynamics and supports evidence-based management for sustainable resource use in Arctic waters.

At the Symposium, ARCFISH representatives will:

  • Showcase the project’s progress, tools, and service developments built to enhance operational decision-making in fisheries management.

  • Engage with fellow co-funded projects, policymakers, and industry actors to explore synergies, cross-sector innovation, and scaling pathways for digital technologies within the blue economy.

  • Contribute to thematic sessions that underscore the role of digital transformation, data interoperability, and stakeholder co-creation in advancing sustainable maritime activities.

Driving Impact Across European Seas

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership’s event emphasises the transition toward sustainable and productive maritime sectors while aligning with broader EU priorities — including the European Ocean Pact, the UN Ocean Decade, and Agenda 2030. By participating in this symposium, ARCFISH reinforces its commitment to collaborative research, co-design with stakeholders, and the real-world application of digital solutions that support sustainable futures for ocean-dependent communities.

Organised at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest, the Symposium also includes networking receptions and opportunities for deeper engagement with fellow projects and partners. Participants will have the chance to exchange insights on innovation pathways, funding opportunities, and strategic priorities for the next phase of the Partnership’s agenda.
